Rory McIlroy made his PGA Tour debut this year by hitting his first shot out-of-bounds. He salvaged a wind-blown day that was tough on just about everyone but Jim Herman in the Honda Classic.

McIlroy was 5-over par until finishing with two birdies for a 3-over 73, his highest round to par in nearly seven months. On this rugged day at PGA National, it was still middle of the pack.

Herman twice save par from the fairway and kept bogeys off his card for a 5-under 65. That gave him a one-shot lead over Brendan Steele. Padraig Harrington and Patrick Reed were two behind.
