Reckless Driving Stop Leads to Drug, Gun Charges

MAYFIELD, KY - A Ballard County man was arrested early Saturday morning on multiple charges after a traffic stop.

According to the Graves County Sheriff's Department, a detective stopped a vehicle for reckless driving at the intersection of South 8th and Cleveland Streets in Mayfield. After speaking with the driver, 35-year-old David C. Blye of Kevil, it was determined that he was under the influence, driving with a suspended license and was wanted on an arrest warrant in Ballard County. 

A search of the vehicle led to discovery of a syringe containing methamphetamine under the driver's seat, 13 grams of meth in the trunk, scales and plastic baggies. Police say there was also a handgun in the back seat of the vehicle. 

Blye was arrested and taken to Graves County Jail. He faces charges of DUI 2nd offense, driving on a DUI suspended license with aggravating circumstances, reckless driving, trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and carrying a concealed weapon. He was also charged with the Ballard County warrant for failure to pay.
