Paducah's Market House Theatre and its executive director, Michael Cochran, will receive national awards this summer.

Cochran will receive the Distinguished Merit Award from the American Association of Community Theatre during its annual AACTFest in Louisville on June 16. The award recognizes his contributions made to promote and develop the highest standards of community theatre.

Cochran was previously honored by AACT for his original play "Eternity", which was selected as one of the winners of the AACT NewPlay Fest 2018 and was published by Dramatic Publishing.

Cochran is in his 39th year with Market House Theatre. He was named executive director in 1996.

Market House Theatre will receive the Twink Lynch Organizational Achievement Award, recognizing the progress made with the Next Stage Project, a 12-year, multi-million dollar project dedicated to expanding services available to the community. Market House Theatre now operates out of 11 historical buildings, 10 of which Market House Theatre owns.
