On Monday, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 1 sent an additional crew to assist with flood recovery efforts in eastern Kentucky.

The 12-member crew is made up of personnel from Crittenden, Livingston, and Lyon counties, as well their Smithland engineering office.

Even though they're a highway crew, they'll be helping to install water and wastewater lines at Whitesburg and Hazard.

The crew will spend the week helping with flood recovery efforts, then return home on Friday.

Earlier this month, another District 1 crew constructed water lines and gravel pads in a camper community for displaced families in Whitesburg, Hazard, and Jenkins.
