Thousands of brochures were mailed on Thursday to encourage local families to participate in a new library quality coffee-table book to celebrate the upcoming 200th Anniversary of McCracken County.

The primary thrust of the brochure, according to Judge Executive Craig Clymer, is to encourage current and former residents of the county to submit photographs for publication in the forthcoming book.

Sample photographs are included along with ideas on what types of photos to send.

“We’re looking for photographs of significant people and places, buildings, events and activities, businesses, churches and schools, transportation, organizations, street scenes, and more,” said Clymer. “We want to have a variety of images to best portray how our way of life has changed in the past 200 years.”

Brochures were mailed throughout the county, but anyone who did not receive one may pick up a copy the McCracken County Public Library or the Inland Waterways Museum.

Photographs may be mailed to McCracken County Bicentennial History Book c/o McCracken County Public Library, 555 Washington Street, Paducah, KY 42003, or emailed to mccracken200thbook@acclaimpress.com.

The deadline for participation is July 30, 2024.

The book is being published by Acclaim Press.

Additional information about the book and ordering options is available on the Acclaim Press website: www.acclaimpress.com.
