A burn ban has been issued for parts of Alexander County, Illinois after brush fires in the county this week.
The Horseshoe Lake Fire District put the ban in place after they responded to two brush fires in two days.
The most recent was Tuesday when someone burning off a field lost control of a fire behind Egyptian School. It eventually involved about 60 acres and spread onto National Forest land.
Another half-acre brush fire started Monday off Wolf Creek Road when someone was burning trash.
The burn ban is in place until further notice,
