WKDZ reported that King, the long-time local business owner of King’s Funeral Home, has been mayor since 2014 after the retirement of Lyn Bailey.
He'll face opposition in the election from Mitzi Thomas-Lawson, who filed in November.
The filing deadline for any other candidates to enter the race is January 9.
