The Calloway County deputy killed in the Monday shooting at the Marshall County Sheriff's Office has been identified.

On Tuesday, state police identified the Calloway deputy as Chief Deputy Jody Cash. Prior to his service in Calloway County, Cash was a KSP Trooper from 2011 until he retired as a Sergeant in 2018.

Both the deputy and suspect were transported to the hospital and later pronounced dead.

Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the shooting at 2:10 p.m. Kentucky State Police are continuing their investigation of the incident.

Authorities have yet to release any other details. Therefore, circumstances surrounding the shooting, such as what led up to shots being fired, are still unclear at this time.

In a statement Monday night Governor Andy Beshear said he is asking Kentuckians to hold the deputy in their prayers.

"Britainy and I ask Kentuckians to join us in holding the family and loved ones of the Calloway County Deputy in their prayers,"  said Gov. Andy Beshear. "This deputy has paid the ultimate sacrifice today while serving our commonwealth. Let us honor the life, bravery and service of this deputy."

U.S. Rep. James Comer also released a statement saying he mourns the loss of a brave public servant.

"On behalf of Kentucky's First District, my condolences are with the family of the Calloway County Sheriff's Deputy who tragically lost his life today in Marshall County. We mourn the loss of a brave public servant gone far too soon."
