Calvert City police posted on Friday that they still seek information from the public about the events related to the fatal hit-and-run accident Tuesday that claimed the life of 18-year-old Mercedeys Culligan.

Police said that they conducted a "saturated patrol" on Thursday in the area of Oak Park Boulevard, and through further investigation they charged 45-year-old Raymond Jarvis, formerly of Marion, with leaving the scene of an accident, and failure to render aid with death or serious physical injury.

Investigators believe Jarvis had only recently moved to Calvert City, residing in Marshall County for only a few weeks prior to when the incident occurred

If any member of the public has more details pertinent to the case, they are asked to call (270)395-4545.

Police Chief Mike Canon thanked Calvert City community and businesses, as well as many local law enforcement agencies for their support and assistance in the case.

Here is the Facebook post in its entirety:

On the morning of August 3rd, 2023, Calvert City Police Department provided a saturated patrol in the area of Oak Park Boulevard searching for vehicles of interest from Tuesday morning's collision.

The vehicle Jarvis was driving during the patrol was identified as one of the vehicles of interest. Through further investigation, Jarvis was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, failure to render aid with death or serious physical injury. He was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.

This tragic event has caused turmoil in the victim's family and our community. The Calvert City Police Department sends thoughts, prayers, and condolences to everyone affected by this sad event.

"Calvert City Police Department, Marshall County Sheriff's Office, Kentucky State Police, Marshall County Coroner's Office, Princeton Police Department, McCracken County Sheriff's Office, Paducah Police Department, and the Calvert City community and businesses have worked together tirelessly this week. The police department thanks the commuity for its contribution thus far. It is evident that although we are small, we take care of each other," said Mike Canon, Calvert City Police Chief.
