Charges filed against Paducah man, woman at Lyon County traffic safety checkpoint

Numerous charges were filed against a Paducah man and woman Friday at a traffic safety checkpoint in Lyon County.

Lyon County Sheriff's Office deputies were assisting Kentucky State Police just after 9:15 pm at the checkpoint on US 62, when a vehicle driven by 27-year-old Patience L. Stephens was stopped.

Stephens was found to be driving on a suspended operator's license, and an open alcohol container was found in the vehicle. It was also discovered that she had failed to answer a previous traffic related court summons.

A passenger in the vehicle, 28-year-old Christopher D. Burgess, was charged with possession of marijuana.
