Former Calloway sheriff Roberts passes at 73

Former Calloway County Sheriff Larry Roberts died Thursday at the age of 73.

Roberts served as sheriff from 2003 until 2007. Prior to his election, he worked as a Calloway County Sheriff’s deputy and a Deputy Sheriff Sergeant between 1984 and 2003.

Larry was a 1969 graduate of Calloway County High School and attended Murray State University. He served for 6 years in the United States Army Reserve where he trained to be a Medic/Health Care Specialist. Other employment included General Tire in Mayfield and the Calloway County Road Department.

A funeral service will be held today at 2:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. till 2:00 p.m.
