A Gilbertsville woman is facing drug charges following a traffic stop and being warned about shooting fireworks close to gas pumps in Calvert City on Friday.

Calvert City Police said they made contact with 49-year-old Stacey Michelle Carrigan in the Casey's General Store parking about shooting off explosive fireworks close to the gas pumps.  Carrigan told police she would go to another location.

As she was leaving the officer was notified of a registration issue with her vehicle.  A traffic stop was initiated and upon contact the officer said he could detect a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Carrigan gave the officer an application for a medical marijuana card but said she had not received her medical marijuana ID card yet.

Carrigan reportedly told police she had not smoked marijuana in her vehicle, only transported it in sealed packages, and she did not have any on her.  However, officers said they found multiple drug items in the vehicle.  Carrigan was charged with no registration plates, obstructed vision, possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, and prescription controlled substance not in proper container.
