An undercover drug investigation led to a multi-county pursuit and the arrest of a Mayfield man Wednesday night.

Graves County Sheriff's detectives had identified 37-year-old Justin Kyle McClain as someone allegedly selling large quantities of crystal methamphetamine in the area. McClain reportedly had a lengthy felony criminal history in both state and US Federal Courts.

Authorities planned an undercover methamphetamine purchase in a rural remote area of Shelton Road. McClain arrived at the location at 7:16 pm. Deputies in three separate police vehicles attempted to block McClain's vehicle in an attempt to diminish the chance of a vehicle pursuit.

McClain reportedly sped up almost striking the three officers and then managed to get around the roadblock by leaving the roadway.

Deputies said McClain fled in his vehicle driving at excessively high rates of speed on many back roads including Shelton, Alexander Loop, King Road, Carrico Sullivan Road, and then onto Ky Hwy 80 West towards the Fancy Farm area. McClain was said to be traveling at such excessive speeds, deputies lost sight of him several times.

From Fancy Farm, McClaias fled on Ky Hwy 339 to Ky Hwy 1748, through the St. Denis community and onto Ky Hwy 307 in the Beulah community. A KSP Trooper met McClain on Ky Hwy 1748 and was able to provide locations of him sporadically due as the trooper lost sight of McClaias several times due to the excessive speeds he was traveling.

Both the Hickman and Carlisle County Sheriff’s arrived in these areas and joined in the search.

Eventually in Carlisle County, near the Arlington community, Hickman County Sheriff Ben Natividad found the vehicle attempting to exit County Road 1129 onto Ky Hwy 80. The sheriff was able to block the roadway and took McClain into custody along with the Carlisle County Sheriff and deputies, Graves deputies and troopers. Deputies said McClain's vehicle engine also blew at this time.

Graves County Sheriff Jon Hayden went back where the pursuit had began and reportedly located over one pound of crystal Methamphetamine in a road ditch on Shelton Road that the McClain allegedly had thrown from his vehicle immediately after the vehicle pursuit began.

McClain was charged with trafficking in crystal methamphetamine, wanton endangerment, fleeing or evading, speeding in excess of 100 MPH, reckless driving, and tampering with physical evidence.

Kentucky State Police have filed charges against this suspect in both Hickman and Carlisle Counties related to the pursuit in those counties.
