Heat and humidity on the way Thursday will be a very favorable environment for severe weather in our area.
The National Weather Service in Paducah says Thursday and Friday could both build into severe weather days.
On Thursday, there's a slight (level 2 out of 5) risk for severe weather from the Ohio River counties up into southern Illinois. The rest of western Kentucky will have a marginal (level 1 ouf of 5) risk for supercells that could bring along large hail, damaging winds and isolated tornadoes.
Thursday's risk will likely be more late afternoon and especially the evening.
Then Friday actually has the larger area of a slight risk of severe weather over our entire region.
On and off chances of showers and storms will continue Saturday through Tuesday as the increase in heat and humidity settles in.
