A high-speed pursuit landed a Paducah man and a juvenile in jail on drug and other charges.
Graves County Sheriff’s deputies spotted a vehicle at high speed near US 45 and I-69. The vehicle, driven by 22-year-old Juan A. Davila Hugarte of Paducah, got onto I-69, then got back off onto KY 121 heading north. Deputies pursued at speeds that reportedly went well over 100mph northbound into Carlisle County. Deputies recovered suspected marijuana and other related items from the side of the road after they were thrown out during the pursuit.
A passenger, later identified as a 17-year-old juvenile, jumped out of the vehicle and hid in a field before being captured. The juvenile, it was determined, already faced charges for drug trafficking and escape. Additional charges for the juvenile are pending.
Davila Hugarte was finally caught near the intersection of KY 307 and County Road 1018. He is facing new charges of speeding 120mph in a 55 mph zone, DUI, fleeing or evading police, trafficking in marijuana, possession of cocaine, and tampering with physical evidence. Deputies said Davila Hugarte was out on bond from an October arrest for trafficking and being a felon in possession of a handgun.
Davila Hugarte was booked into the McCracken County Regional Jail.
