I-57 in Pulaski County is back open after a chain-reaction semi crash had the northbound lanes closed for more than 12 hours.
According to Illinois State Police, a semi-trailer rear-ended a truck with a flatbed trailer hauling machinery, and caused a four-vehicle chain reaction crash near mile marker 15.
The Pulaski County Emergency Management Agency confirmed the driver of the first semi truck was killed in the crash. The driver’s name is not being released at this time, pending family notification.
The crash occurred about 4:30 pm Thursday, and the interstate reopened about 6:30 Friday morning.
