A juvenile was taken into custody Sunday after stealing a truck in Hopkinsville.

The Hopkinsville Police Department notified Christian County sheriff's deputies they had stopped a vehicle driven by a 14-year-old juvenile just before noon that had apparently almost hit a mail truck.

Investigators said the vehicle turned out to be stolen.

Deputies advised HPD they had dealt with that particular juvenile earlier in the day on a previous call on Bennettstown Street and the vehicle they stopped may have been stolen from the 1000 block of Old Lafayette Road.

Deputies interviewed the juvenile, who admitted to stealing the truck.

The suspect was charged with theft by unlawful taking and no operators license and taken to the McCracken Juvenile Detention Facility.

The stolen truck was returned to its owner.
