A Mayfield man was arrested for kidnapping and assault after reportedly holding a woman against her will.

The Graves County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to an address on Old Dublin Road to a report of a female who walked up to a home reporting she had been assaulted.

Authorities said she had been assaulted and held against her will by 41-year-old Michael L. West, throughout the night Tuesday and into the early morning hours on Wednesday. This allegedly occurred at the West’s home as well as in a vehicle the victim and West were in.

The female reportedly escaped and made her way to another residence to call for help after West fell asleep. She was taken to Jackson Purchase Medical Center for medical treatment and later released from the hospital and is recovering from her injuries.

Deputies responded to West home on Wednesday. At that time, West had two active warrants for his arrest through Graves County District Court. Deputies got a search warrant for West's home and entered the home after attempts to get him to exit the home. They said they found West hiding inside.

West was charged with kidnapping with serious physical injury, assault, failure to appear in a Graves County District Court traffic case and contempt of court in a Graves County District Court misdemeanor case.
