U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell was a guest on the Greg Dunker Show Wednesday to discuss inflation, recent elections, and the new social spending bill.

While discussing inflation, McConnell referenced an article that claims prices have climbed approximately 6.2 percent over the last 12 months, becoming the most significant increase since 1990. McConnell said the recent elections in New Jersey and Virginia are a referendum on the Biden administration's policies.

"The prices of everything have gone up. So even if people are getting paid more, it doesn't make up for the inflation we're being hit with." McConnell continued, "This administration is a mess. It's a mess. That's what we saw the American people reacting to in both Virginia and New Jersey a week ago."

According to McConnell, Republicans won in Virginia not only because it was a referendum on the Biden administration but also because the pandemic allowed parents to see what their children were being taught in school.

"Even in northern Virginia, which is a very liberal part of the state, parents were in revolt. The parents voted for Youngkin overwhelmingly." McConnell said. "This is a state that had become very Democratic. The last time Virginia elected a Republican state-wide was 12 years ago. Biden carried it by 10 points."

McConnell called the more recent $2 trillion social spending bill a "wreckless tax and spending bill." He said it was something the country does not need or want and believes it will be immensely unpopular.

"What they should have done after what happened in the election a week ago is drop the whole thing. That's not what they've done. Pelosi and Schumer are saying if we just pass this, everybody will forget about all the other problems, and they'll like us. I think they're totally misreading the mood of the American people," McConnell said.

McConnell said he believes change is on the way, and we're likely to see that change fully manifest next November.
