Mercy Health to add state of the art CT machine

Mercy Health - Lourdes Hospital aanounced Thursday the acquisition of the state-of-the-art GE Revolution Apex CT machine, an extremely advanced diagnostic testing technology for western Kentucky. 

Mercy Health – Lourdes Hospital is the only healthcare facility in the region with the technology.  

This cutting-edge 312 slice, 16 cm detector CT machine sets a new standard for imaging quality while significantly reducing image scan time.

The GE Revolution Apex CT machine can perform a complete scan in just 0.23 seconds, including complex scans such as a detailed scan of the heart and perfusion brain study.

This revolutionary device will significantly enhance the hospital's ability to provide exceptional care for patients with critical conditions.

Its remarkable speed will enable accurate imaging of patients with difficulty remaining still, such as those with severe trauma or pediatric cases.

One of the key advantages of the GE Revolution Apex CT machine is its ability to capture images of the heart between beats, eliminating the need for patients to be on medication to slow their heart rate before CT testing.

Additionally, this advanced technology ensures the highest quality imaging while minimizing the patient's radiation dose.

The machine's body mass mapping feature allows for personalized imaging and optimized radiation dosage tailored to each patient's unique composition.

The addition of the GE Revolution Apex CT machine to the imaging fleet is scheduled for December 11.
