Metropolis Police arrested a teen last week for allegedly breaking into cars.
Police received a call in the pre-dawn hours last Tuesday from a person who saw someone in their vehicle. The suspect reportedly was gone when police arrived, but they continued searching the area.
An officer spotted another vehicle with its interior lights on, and heard what sounded like a person running through a neighboring yard. The suspect was spotted heading into the woods off 5th Street, so police set up a perimeter.
They found 18-year-old Raiden G. Synek hiding in the woods. A search allegedly turned up a taser, a window punch, and a container full of quarters.
Synek was arrested and charged with burglary to auto, possession of burglary tools, and unlawful use or possession of a weapon.
The container of quarters was returned to the owner.
