Police said a Murray man was arrested Saturday after throwing a molotov cocktail at a group of students and only injuring himself.

State police say 19-year-old Jack T. Epperson threw the explosive toward a group of female students near the southwest corner of the Murray State campus

Epperson reportedly burned his hands in the process and fled the area. None of the female students were injured.

Epperson was quickly identified as a suspect with help from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. He was arrested soon after.

He was treated at the Murray Calloway County Hospital then taken to the Calloway County jail on charges of attempted assault and possession of a destructive device.
