Old Mayfield Road reopened with new Bottom Ditch bridge

After more than six months, a section of Old Mayfield Road has reopened to traffic with the new Bottom Ditch Bridge in southern McCracken County. 

For now, traffic is running on base asphalt courses.  A paving crew will return in the spring to complete the final driving surface.

Old Mayfield Road has been closed since May after inspectors found further deterioration of the bridge due to overweight trucks. KYTC engineers determined the old bridge could not be repaired, and a new bridge went under construction in September.
