A Paducah man was arrested Saturday night on a variety of drug and other charges.

Paducah police said 33-year-old Clifton T. Barner was pulled over after officers noticed expired registration.

An odor of marijuana was reported coming from the vehicle and Barner was found to have a small amount
of marijuana and a plastic bag containing about 75-100 suspected ecstasy pills.

While being handcuffed, Barner resisted and attempted to run. Barner struggled with three officers before he finally was handcuffed.

He complained of knee pain after his arrest and was taken to Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital. The three officers sustained cuts and scrapes to their hands and forearms.

When Barner was released from the hospital emergency room, officers found in his bed another plastic bag containing 50-75 suspected fentanyl pills.

Barner was charged with several dtug related offenses and other traffic violations and lodged in the McCracken County Detention Center.

Barner has an extensive history of convictions for drug trafficking, and currently is on supervised release through the Department of Corrections until 2031.
