Paducah police report new phone scam

Paducah Police are reporting a new phone scam in the area.

Police said Monday a local resident received a call from someone claiming to be “Captain Kent Rinehart” with the “District Court of the United States Paducah, Kentucky.” The caller said the resident had missed jury duty and would face a warrant unless they paid a large fine immediately.

Police said if you receive a call like this, hang up. Do not provide personal or financial information. If you're ever unsure, contact local law enforcement agency directly.
