A shooting in southern Marshall County has left one man dead and another in jail.

Marshall County Sheriff's deputies were called about a shooting around 5:30 p.m. Thursday at a home on West Unity Church Road in Hardin. Authorities arrived to find a victim, 51-year-old Stephen Odom, dead from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. Following their investigation deputies said the resident, 37-year-old Aaron S. Dripps allegedly shot Odom. 

Dripps was arrested and charged with murder and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. He was taken to the Marshall County Detention Center and is being held on a $500,000 cash bond.

The investigation is continuing and additional charges could be filed.
