Nighttime lane restrictions will continue on I-24 in Lyon and McCracken counties as part of an interstate micro-surfacing project.

A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will be leveling the roadway along I-24 in Lyon County between the Cumberland River Bridge and KY 293 at Exit 45, or approximately mile points 34 to 45.

Crews are working on I-24 eastbound and could shift to I-24 westbound as early as Wednesday,  weather permitting.

Work is taking place during overnight hours from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. A reduced speed limit of 55 mph is in effect in the work zone.

The next phase of the project in Lyon County will be micro-paving, which is expected to begin on or about Friday.

Permanent striping on I-24 in McCracken County will take place intermittently over the next few weeks, as weather allows. The McCracken County work zone is between the I-24 Ohio River Bridge and Exit 16.

During the striping operation, a mobile work zone will be active on I-24 between the hours of 10 p.m. and 4 a.m.

The overall project, which spans portions of Interstates 24 and 69 within District 1, is set to be completed by September 30.
