The National Weather Service in Paducah has run the numbers on this week's major snow storm that blanketed southeast Missouri and southern Illinois.

The region's biggest snowfall occurred in Elsinore, Missouri, with 9.4 inches. Marble Hill and Perryville followed with 7.5 and 6 inches.

Cape Girardeau got 4.8 inches of snow, the same as Carbondale, Illinois. Neighboring Marion was close behind with 4 inches.

The snow tapered off quickly to the south, with about three inches in Vienna, and two inches west of Metropolis.

An inch of snow was measured at the National Weather Service office in West Paducah, but most of Paducah itself saw no snow at all, same as most of western Kentucky who got plenty of rain instead.

Maybe the biggest number was 75,000, the total customers who lost power in Missouri from the heavy, wet snow and gusty winds that brought down power lines and trees. There were also sporadic power outages across southern Illinois.
