As predicted, localized storms rapidly dumped multiple inches of rain, and damaging winds took out power for hundreds of customers in Missouri and Kentucky on Monday.

Storm reports first began coming in to the National Weather Service offices on Monday afternoon from southeast Missouri. Cape Girardeau and Scott City reported widespread flash flooding occurred as 3.3 inches of rain reportedly fell in an hour. It overwhelmed drainage systems and resulted in flooded roadways and yards, stalled vehicles and localized flooding that required responses from emergency personnel.

A truck got stuck and nearly entirely covered with floodwaters in a culvert off of Kingshighway in Cape. One person was rescued and taken to a hospital.

Due to a pole broken in the storm, Kentucky Utilities had to shut off power to about 140 businesses and residences on the north side of Clinton.

At 8 pm, Mayfield Electric & Water is experienced a widespread power outage affecting multiple areas due to downed power lines. In all, more than 1800 customers lost power in Graves County, and over 600 were out in Ballard County.

At that same time, a tornado warning was issued for Livingston, Lyon and Marshall counties.

Multiple trees fell across the road at Dogwood in Graves County, and in several locations around Mayfield and Barlow.

A tree came down near Kirksey in Calloway County. Several downed trees and building damage was reported in Symsonia.

Hail was reported in Hickory.
