Two fugitives from Princeton were arrested Friday following a theft investigation at a Kuttawa business.
A Livingston County resident was a customer at the Huck’s Travel Center on Thursday when she laid her Apple iPhone on a retail counter as she paid for merchandise. Another customer in the store reportedly picked up the cell phone and walked with it to a bathroom before turning off the phone's power.
Deputies with the Lyon County and Livingston County Sheriff’s Office were led to a lodging business in Grand Rivers where the stolen cell phone was recovered and two fugitives were located. The offenders were identified as 31-year-old Austin R. Powell and 33-year-old Ann Earl.
Powell was charged on a bench warrant from Union Circuit Court for probation violation and theft by unlawful taking.
Earl was charged on three outstanding Caldwell District Court bench warrants, and giving officers false identifying information.
