State Police Arrest Two Men After Parkway Pursuit

Two men were arrested on drug charges Monday night after a pursuit on the Western Kentucky Parkway.

Kentucky State Police Post 2 said a trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle near the 48 mile marker, but the vehicle accelerated faster and began to flee. Troopers deployed a tire deflation device, and the vehicle ramped onto I-69 and came to a stop near the 107 mile marker.

The driver, Michael Pierce of Lexington and the passenger, Jerrell Christian of Paducah were taken into custody. Troopers said two trash bags containing marijuana, suspected synthetic marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found inside the vehicle along with small individual baggies of suspected synthetic marijuana.

Pierce is charged with fleeing or evading police, trafficking in synthetic drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs and various other traffic offenses. Christian was charged with trafficking in synthetic drugs and possession of drug paraphernlaia.

Both were lodged in the Hopkins County Jail.
