A woman who lost her vehicle at the Mayfield candle factory during the December 10 tornado received a special gift on Sunday.

Graves County Sheriff Jon Hayden said he received a call from Anderson County Sheriff Joe Milam in the days after the devastating storm. Milam told Hayden that a woman named Sharon Sutherland had contacted him, wanting to donate a car to someone in need.

Sutherland made the long drive to Mayfield on Sunday, where she was introduced to Rebecca Marsala.

Marsala was working at the candle factory when the tornado hit, and the damage left her trapped under debris for five hours before she was rescued. She ended up spending several days in the hospital recovering from her injuries.

Sutherland handed over the title and keys to Marsala and even surprised deputies with homemade treats.
