A black bear was spotted on a trail cam in Land Between the Lakes in Tennessee.

LBL officials posted on Friday that the bear was recently viewed on a trail near Piney Campground in Stewart County. They posted that they estimate one or two bears migrates through LBL each year, but they're not always spotted.

Bears in our part of the country live in the Ozark regions of southern Missouri and western Arkansas. Young males will commonly strike out on their own, and have no difficulty swimming across the mile-wide Mississippi River or Kentucky Lake. Bears also venture through southern Illinois on occasion, and lately their range has been expanding into deep southern states like Mississippi.

People who happen to spot a bear are urged to give it space, avoid feeding it, and report its presence to the proper authorities.
