A new text scam is making its way around the area involving the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
According to KYTC officials, fradulent text messages have been received by people telling them they have unpaid traffic tickets, or concerning traffic violations that have not been paid and that action would be taken if they are not resolved.
The messages also include a link to a website similiar to the Kentucky government website's address.
Transportation Cabinet officials say if you receive a text, do not respond to it or click any links. KYTC does not collect any traffic ticket fines nor notify anyone of traffic violations through text messages.
If you receive one of these messages, you can report it to the KYTC office in your district or to the nearest law enforcement agency.
