Charles Leslie McClain

Mr. Charles Leslie “Charlie” McClain, 89 of Murray, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Passion and Purpose Homecare in Almo, KY.

Born July 8, 1936, in the Cuba community of Graves County, Charles was the son of the late James Brady McClain and Lola Mae (McClure) McClain. He proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Army and was a faithful member of West Murray Church of Christ.

Charles retired from Ironworkers Local 782 in Paducah after decades of dedicated service. Following his retirement, he spent ten years on the road driving vehicles for Dwain Taylor Chevrolet and Toyota of Murray, where he became affectionately known around the dealership as “Old Clyde Transport.”

Those left to cherish memories of Charles include his children, Linda Young (Gene) of Chester, IL, Daryl McClain (Paula) of Murray, Melanie Nix (John) of Almo, and Brad McClain (Carrie) of Spring Hill, TN; brother, Larry McClain of Murray; and sister, Diana Darnell (Gary) of Murray; grandchildren, Amber Bertoglio (Tony), Alex Young (Ariel Crouch), Brandon Young (Brea), Christopher Young (Madison Murray), Justin Cook, Hannah Nix, Benjamin Nix, Reed McClain, Riley McClain, Logan Reed and Hunter Reed; and great-grandchildren, William Travis Young, Nolan Bertoglio, Emilia Bertoglio, Skyler Cook, Ava Cook, and Parker Cook.

Also surviving are stepchildren, Gina Jones (Larry) and Michael McCallum (Jessica), both of Murray; bonus grandchildren; Derek McCallum (Kassa), Amber Stubblefield (James), Madison McCallum, Ashley Jones, Britney Jones, Mason McCallum, Ashton McCallum, Myla McCallum, and Kinsley McCallum; and great-grandchildren, Luke and Matthew McCallum and Cora and Ava Stubblefield.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Agnes (Williams) McClain; a grandson, Travis Young; and stepsons, Greg McCallum and Alan McCallum.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Blalock-Coleman Funeral Home in Murray, KY with Dan Peters officiating. Burial will follow the service in Brooks Chapel Cemetery, Dexter, KY.

Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, June 20, 2026, between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. at the Blalock-Coleman Funeral Home, 713 S. 4th St., Murray, KY 42071.
