Gilbert Sears

Mr. Gilbert Sears, 90, of Murray, KY, passed away Monday, August 12, 2024, at the Anna Mae Owen Residential Hospice House, Murray, KY. 
 
Born April 22, 1934, in Pulaski Co., KY, to the late Chauncey Gilbert and Bertha (Woodall) Sears, Mr. Sears was a graduate of Murray State University and Southern Illinois University and was a retired Economic Development Specialist from the University of Kentucky Extension Service in Lexington, KY.  Mr. Sears honorably served his country in the United States Air Force, he was a member of First Baptist Church in Murray.
 
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Winta Jane (Puckett) Sears; his children, David (Rhonda) Sears of Lawrenceburg, KY, Stephen (Mary) Sears of Benton, KY, Carol Hatley of Hopkinsville, KY, Laura Anne (Jim) Ownbey of Cleveland, TN, Alison Carillon of Katy, TX; grandchildren, Chelsea (Adam) Carter, Alison (Luke) Jones, Ryan (Megan) Sears, Whitney Sears, Jessica (Jim) Adkins, Kyle (Lauren) Sears, Erin Ownbey, Kendra Sears, Jordan Carillon, Leeann Sears, Elizabeth Sears, Jennifer (Craig) Kemp, Emily (Kody) Fox, Megan (Josh) Smith, Sara Anne (Dustin) Fairbanks, Christopher Carillon and Adam Carillon; 16 great grandchildren.
 
Mr. Sears was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Ricky Hatley; brothers, Wilton Sears, Wayne Sears, Jerry Sears and Donnie Sears; and sisters, Mickey Beechler, Helen Cahill, Peggy Wilson and Doris Burnett.
 
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Murray, KY with Rev. Boyd Smith and Rev. Mike Crook officiating.  Burial with military honors will follow at 3:30 p.m. at the Zoar Baptist Church Cemetery, 1496 KY 849, Cunningham, KY 42035.
 
Visitation will be held Saturday, August 17, 2024, between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 203 South 4^th Street, Murray, KY 42071.
