Mrs. Lou Jean Henson Pierce “Gensy”, age 71 of Louisville, formerly of Murray, passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at Norton Brownsboro Hospital, Louisville, KY. 

Born February 22, 1953 in Benton, KY, she was the daughter of the late James Manoah Henson, Jr. “Jack” and Josephine Smith Henson. She spent most of her childhood in the Hardin area of South Marshall surrounded by loving family and friends. Lou Jean was a 1971 graduate of Calloway County High School. She always wished she could have graduated with her friends in Marshall County, but you go where your parents take you. Lou Jean was retired from Fern Terrace Lodge in Murray, KY. She was also a long-time employee of the Calloway County School System where she worked in the cafeteria.
 
Lou Jean married Michael Pierce on July 3rd, 1971. Mike and Lou Jean had two sons, Matthew Lynn “Matt” Pierce, wife Bui Barinda of Louisville, KY and Robert Michael Pierce, wife Stephanie of North Port, FL, who survive.  Also surviving are her brother, Murrell Henson, and wife Jan of Hardin, KY and grandchildren: Waylon, Eli, Thea, Mary “Polly” and Haley Pierce.
 
Mrs. Pierce was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Pierce, her parents, sister, Jeanne Henson Overby and brother, Earl Henson.
 
Lou Jean was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and servant of Jesus Christ. She loved her sons, their wives, and her grandchildren. She was always available for her family and went out of her way to make everyone feel special. Her final church membership was at Kenwood Baptist Church in Louisville, KY.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Blalock-Coleman Funeral Home in Murray, KY with Rev. Kory Cunningham officiating. 

Burial will follow on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the Kirksey Baptist Church Cemetery, Kirksey, KY.
   
Friends may visit with the family after 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 17. 2025 until the funeral hour, at the Blalock-Coleman Funeral Home, 713 South 4th Street, Murray, KY.
