Mr. Robert Owen “3 Bob” Fowler passed away peacefully on January 8, 2025, at Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital, Paducah, KY.
Robert Owen Fowler was born April 28, 1937, in Louisville, KY to Mr. Clarence H. and Sarah Owen Fowler. He grew up in the Sharpe community and resided there until moving to Possum Trot, KY in 2002.
Mr. Fowler is survived by his daughters, Lori Waldrop (Scott) and Natalie Johnston (Mike “Possum”); a sister, Winnie R. Castleberry; grandchildren, Amy Johnston (Josh Collins), Jamie J. Moore (Joey), Megan Sears (Ryan), and Seth Waldrop; great-grandchildren, Lila, Ezra, and Phoebe Waldrop, and Reagan Sears; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Fowler was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Bobbye Sanders Fowler; his parents, Clarence H. and Sarah Fowler; and sisters, Mae Dawes and Joyce Culp.
Mr. Fowler graduated from the first class of North Marshall High School in 1955. He attended Murray State University for 2 years post high school and worked at Air Products Chemical Plant as a lab-technician for 32 years. He was the last of the original members of Sharpe Missionary Baptist Church and attended faithfully until present. He served many years as a Sunday School teacher, treasurer, and chairman of the deacons. He stepped down as an active deacon due to his health, claiming his title was now Deacon Emeritus. He was a member of the Kaintuck Muzzleloaders and an active member of the Marshall County Senior Citizens, where he enjoyed playing bingo.
We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Patricia Todd, Macie Skinner, Tammie Taunton, Shawna Darnall, Songa Skinner and Darleen Skinner. Without “his girls” he would not have been as active as he was in his latter years; you each are like family to us all. Our daddy loved you all, saying he loved running around with “other men’s wives.”
Visitation will be held at Sharpe Missionary Baptist Church, 9181 Scale Road, Benton, KY on Sunday, January 12, 2025, from 5:00 pm. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the church on Monday, January 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Chris Moore officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at the Briensburg Cemetery, 892 Briensburg Road, Benton, KY. Friends and family are encouraged to dress casually.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to Sunrise Children’s Services, 300 Hope Street, Mt. Washington, KY 40047.
