Sandra S. Baker

 Sandra S. Baker, 77, wife of Coleman Baker, of Murray, KY passed away on Sunday November 5, 2023 at Compassion and Promise in Murray, KY. She was born on October 18, 1946 in Hays, KS to the late Cecil E. Gruver and Ruth C Haller.

Her family eventually settled in the south-central Kansas town of Macksville, where she graduated high school in 1964. After graduation she attended Hutchinson Business College and went to work for the Kansas motor vehicle department in Topeka, KS.  While working in Topeka, she met and married Coleman, her husband of 54 years. After marriage they settled in Kentucky, living in Lexington, Richmond and eventually Lawrenceburg where they raised their two children.

Sandy, as she was known, in addition to her husband, is survived by one daughter, Cynthia Shemwell; one son, Andrew Baker (Tiffany); and five grandchildren, Coleman Lovins, Sara Lovins, Emily Lovins, Paige Baker, and Rhett Baker.

In addition to her immediate family, she is survived by a nephew Mark Paquett (Jan) of Piney Flats, TN, and a niece Michelle Malka (Mat) Sapulpa, OK.

In addition to her mother and father she was preceeded in death by her sister Joy Looper (Curt) Tulsa, OK, and her brother Homer Gruver of Prat KS.

Graveside services will be held at a later date.  In lieu flowers, donations may be made in Sandy’s memory, to a church or charity of your choice.
