Louie Gene Barrett

Mr. Louie Gene Barrett, 83, of Smithland, passed away Monday, July 27, 2026 at Baptist Health Paducah.
Louie was a United States Army veteran , serving in Vietnam for 18 months. He left with an honorable discharge in 1969. 
He worked for the Crounse Corporation on a towboat for 41years, from 1964 until 2005. He liked to hunt arrowheads and deer hunt and watch Fox News. He loved his family and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports. 
Louie is survived by; his wife of 54 years, Janice Darlene (Guess) Barrett; daughter, Chelsea Caitlin (Owen) Beachy of Burna; two grandchildren, Lexi Nicole Beachy and Hunter Lee O’Brien; sister, Patricia Hall of Salem.
He was preceded in death by; parents, James Robert and Elaine Barrett; brothers, James Allen Barrett, Robert Keith Barrett and Charles Glen Barrett.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 31, 2026 at 1PM, in the chapel of Boyd Funeral Directors and Cremation Services.
Burial will follow at Smithland Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 12 noon until the funeral hour at Boyd Funeral Directors and Cremation Services.
