Marion Alice Davis Stratton Obituary: June 22, 2026
Marion Alice Davis Stratton passed away peacefully on Friday, June 19, 2026, at 5:05 a.m. EST
in Louisville, Kentucky.
Known to all as Alice, she devoted her life to her family, her friends, and her faith. Born in
Mayfield, Kentucky, on Wednesday, July 10, 1946, to Charles and Marion Davis, she was named
after her beloved mother.
Alice was a 1964 graduate of Mayfield High School and earned her degree from Murray State
University in December 1967. Though her formal classroom teaching was brief, her lifelong
informal teaching was expansive and profound. She served two terms on the Mayfield School
Board of Education and was an educator in the truest sense—showing us through her own life
how to focus on what truly matters. Alice modeled love for her family, friends, and community
with remarkable resilience and generosity.
As a devoted military spouse, Alice embraced the adventures of travel while steadfastly
anchoring her family through Andy’s three deployments, holding their household together with
grace, strength, and unwavering love.
Known for her trustworthiness and loyalty, Alice became the confidante many turned to for wise
counsel and a compassionate ear. She cherished her weekly card group gatherings filled with
laughter, conversation, and friendship. She found joy in singing in the Living Christmas Tree,
traveling with family and friends to New England, Key West, and Italy, and being Mrs. Claus
alongside her favorite Santa. Above all, Alice treasured time with her grandchildren as their
beloved GiGi.
Alice is survived by her loving and dedicated husband of 58 years, Andy Stratton; her daughters,
Jill Stratton, Merri Mlincek (Kevin), and Anna Osborne (Kevin); her cherished grandchildren,
Drew, Kate, and Caroline; her brother, Chuck Davis and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and
in-laws. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Marion (Page) Davis, and her
sister, Norma Davis Seavers.
The family wishes to thank the staff at The Willows at Springhurst, Hosparus Health Louisville, and Helping
Hands for their compassionate care and support.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 27, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral
Home, followed by a graveside service at Highland Park Cemetery. A celebration of life will
follow later this summer in Mayfield, Kentucky.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Stratton, Paul Stratton, Tim Stratton, Roth Stratton, Olin
Covington, and Gayle Robbins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Alice's memory to the Michael J.
