Mr. Ben Capps, age 77 of Calvert City passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025, at Baptist Health Hospital in Paducah.
He was a retired purchasing agent for CCMA and previously worked as a purchasing agent for Air Products. Ben was a proud member of Calvert City United Methodist Church. He was a devoted member of his community, participating as a member of the Calvert City Jaycees, Calvert City Planning and Zoning Committee, and the Calvert City Fire Department. Ben joined the Calvert City Fire Department in 1970 where he worked his way up to the position of assistant chief. Each Wednesday evening after work, Ben would join his friends at the Calvert City Country Club for a round of golf. Despite how busy he was with his various clubs, organizations, and volunteer work, Ben would always make time to support his grandchildren. He attended every sporting event they had and would proudly cheer on each of his grandson’s from the stands.
Ben was born in Marshall County on Tuesday, June 22, 1948 to the late Kenneth Hale Capps and the late Alma Rivers (Donohoo) Capps.
He is survived by two daughters, Vanessa Futrell (Scott) of Benton and Amanda Fennel (Daniel) of Benton; one sister, Martha Puckett (David) of Benton; one sister -in-law, Marsha Capps; four grandchildren, Preston Futrell, Owen Futrell, Jake Fennel, and Jude Fennel; two bonus grandchildren, Zack Meyer and Blake Meyer; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Ben was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 48 years, Carol (Clark) Capps; his parents, Kenneth and Rivers Capps; and one brother, John David Capps.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 30, 2025 at Collier Funeral Chapel located at 211 West 5th St. Benton, Kentucky 42025 with Dr. Rev. John Perdue and Jim Capps officiating.
Interment will follow in Provine Cemetery, Benton, Kentucky, with full Firefighter Honors.
Visitation will be held between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at Collier Funeral Home.
