Carolyn Pitt

Carolyn Elizabeth Scott Pitt, age 69, of Benton, passed away surrounded by her family on Monday, May 25, 2026 at her home after a long illness.

Carolyn was born in Murray, Kentucky on January 31, 1957 to the late Arlie Scott and the late Maxine Price Scott. She was a proud Christian and faithful member of Vanzora Missionary Baptist Church. Carolyn received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of Kentucky. She served her community as a registered nurse at Lourdes Hospital as well as a Long-Term Acute Care Hospital. Carolyn was a lifelong horsewoman; raising, riding, and showing horses for over 50 years. She would often spend her free time riding and camping with her beloved husband, Benny. They would often look forward to trail rides at Land Between the Lakes and would explore the Tri- State area on horseback by visiting numerous riding and camping locations. Carolyn became a certified scuba diver; she traveled and dove extensively with the dive group from Mermet Springs Dive Center at Belknap, IL. Where her and Benny were longtime patrons.

Those left to honor and cherish Carolyn's memory include her husband, Benny Ray Pitt of Benton; one son, Scott Ray Pitt of Benton; one daughter, Sonya Elizabeth Pitt Larka (husband, John Richard Larka, Jr. of Gilbertsville; one sister, Jayne Katherine Scott Powell (husband, Michael Patrick Powell) of Buckeye, Arizona; and two grandchildren, Courtney Elizabeth Larka Smith (husband, Richard Dean Smith) of McKenzie, TN; one grandson Lincoln Ray Pitt; and two great grandchildren, Kayden Blaine Larka and Sofie Elizabeth Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Carolyn's wishes were that no flowers were sent to the funeral home, but instead, memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society; P.O. Box 6704 Hagerstown, MD 21741.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at Collier Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held June 2 at 2:00pm at  Vanzora Baptist Church
