Don Filbeck

Mr. Eldridge Donald Filbeck, age 84, of Benton, KY went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, January 14, 2026. He retired from General Tire in Mayfield, KY. He was a loving and devoted husband for 58 years to his late wife Peggy. He was especially proud of his grandchildren and loved every opportunity to spend time with them.

Born June 22, 1941 in Benton, KY, he was the son of the late William Filbeck and Lerah (Jarvis) Filbeck.  He was preceded in death by his wife Peggy (Chambers) Filbeck and his sons Kerry Filbeck and Kevin Filbeck. 

Surviving are his son Kent Filbeck and wife Lisa of Owensboro, KY, sister Nelle Riley of Benton, KY and grandchildren Ashley (Filbeck) Graf and husband John of Lexington, KY and Alex Filbeck and wife Mary of Kansas City, MO.

Known for his sense of humor and jokester personality, he had a gift for making everyone around him smile. Donnie could be found in spring and summer admiring his purple martins from his back porch. He was an avid UK basketball and St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. He loved dirt track car racing and actually enjoyed mowing in the summer. His greatest passion was his John Deere 30 series tractor collection and he recently enjoyed working on and driving his 1956 Chevrolet.  He lived in Oak Level all of his life and loved his community and neighbors, especially his church, attending Oak Level Church his entire 84 years of life. Donnie was always willing and wanting to help anyone in need in the community.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday January 18, 2026 at Collier Funeral Home located at 211 West 5th Street, Benton, KY 42025 with Bro. Danny Pruitt and Bro. Ronnie Lear officiating. Interment will follow in Benton Cemetery, Benton, KY. 

Visitation will be held between the hours of 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at Collier Funeral Home.
