Effie Mae Arant

Effie Mae Arant, 95 of Sharpe, Kentucky passed away on Monday, November 17, 2025 at the Stilley House in Benton, Kentucky.

Born on March 27, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Tolbert Harper and the late Eula Dunn Harper.  She was a founding member of the North Marshall Church of Christ and retired from JCPenney after 25 years.  Effie Mae enjoyed cooking, gardening and canning.

Surviving are her children, Joann Weinberg (Sam) of Louisville, KY and Jan Arant (Cathi) of Mt. Juliet, TN, Doug Arant (Paula) and Kevin Arant (Janice) both of Sharpe, KY; grandchildren, Marci Shuman (Brent), Drew Weinberg (Amanda), Marissa Hebner (Mike), Shelley Arnold (Corey), Cody Arant (Meagan), Harper Arant and Katie Arant; and six great-grandchildren, Jackson, Stella & Emi Shuman, Briley & Tye Arant and Idgie Weinberg.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, John Arant; brother, Tom Harper; sister, Norma Hall; and her parents.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at Collier Funeral Home with Gary Knuckles officiating.  Interment will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery, Benton, KY.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at Collier Funeral Home, 211 West 5th, Benton, Kentucky.
