Ella Mae Lyles

Ella Mae Lyles, 93, of Benton, Kentucky, passed away at 5:40 pm, Friday, March 13, 2026 at The Meadows Senior Community Health Center in Nashville, TN. She was surrounded by family.

Ella Mae was born in the North Calloway County community of Brinkley on May 4, 1932, to the late Coy Alonzo Newsome and Jessie Mae Scott Newsome. Ella Mae was a member of Oak Level church of Christ.
She is survived by one son, Jerry Lyles (Shirlene) of Lewisburg, TN; daughters, Sharon Filbeck, Sheila Hendrickson (David), Donna Jones (Wayne), all of Benton; grandchildren, Michael Houser, Angie Hawkins (Roy), Melissa Higgins (Steve), Heather Hendrickson, Matthew Hendrickson (Paige), Ashley Hack (Adam), Bionca Waller (Bret); great-grandchildren, Dillon Houser, Chelsea Bailey (Lance), Nicolas Hawkins, Brianna Higgins, Madisyn Higgins, Luna Hendrickson, Emma Hack, Ellie Hack, Bella Hack, Evyn Waller, one great-great-granddaughter, Paislee Bailey, honorary granddaughter Jackelyn Zaragoza, and her cat, Patches.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Leroy Lyles, her parents, a brother, Vonnie Lee Newsome, an infant sister, Betty Jo Newsome, and her beloved uncle, Troy Newsome.

Funeral Services will be held in the chapel of Collier Funeral Home on Sunday March 15, 2026 at 2:00 PM. Doug Lyles will assist Jack Phillips in officiating the service. Friends may visit with the family after 10:00am until the funeral hour on Sunday March 15, 2026 at Collier Funeral Home in Benton, KY.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to: New Pathways for Children, 3233 Shaw Road, Melber, KY 42069, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, of which Ella Mae was an avid giver.
