Gerald "GH" Hunt

Gerald Hunt of Germantown, TN passed away at Baptist Hospital in Memphis, TN on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2025 with his wife by his side. At age 84, he had been in bad health for many years.

GH (as many called him) was born on May 5th, 1941, in Paducah, KY to parents Wallace & Evelyn Beard Hunt who are deceased. He attended Paducah City Schools and graduated from Paducah Tilghman High School in 1959 where he participated in football and baseball.  After graduation, GH attended Paducah Community College and achieved a degree in Structural Engineering. He then served in the United States Army overseas in Korea. After his service to his country, GH moved to Memphis and was employed as a Structural Engineering Draftsman until his retirement.

Gerald was a member of The Church of Christ and supporter of The Outreach Program. He was a big time golf enthusiast and thoroughly enjoyed his golf game with his golfing buddies at Windyke Country Club.


Those who were lovingly left behind are: Sherry, his wife of 46 years who is left to tell his story; brother, Eddie (Lanette) Hunt in Murray, KY; nephew Jeremy (Rachael) Hunt in Louisville, Ky; and nephew Jason (Becky) Hunt in St. Augustine, FL; along with other nieces, nephews & cousins.

Gerald’s funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 9th at 2pm at Collier Funeral Home in Benton, KY. Church of Christ Minister Gary Knuckles will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
