Harlan Smith

Harlan Smith, age 80 of Calvert City, KY passed away on Friday, January 12, 2024 at his residence.  

Harlan was born on September 6, 1943 in Melber, KY to the late Tersea (Simmons) Smith and the late James Smith. He retired as a laborer from Petter Supply and enjoyed to fish and hunt. He also loved to talk on the CB radio where he went by Donkey.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Annette (Deaton) Smith, of Calvert City, KY; son, James "Shorty" Smith (Michaele) of Benton, KY; daughters, Tonya Watson husband Dwayne of  Paducah, KY, Tracie Wiley husband Joe of Gilbertsville, KY; brother, Sammy  Ray Smith of Paducah, KY;  step-brother, Thomas Earl Wallace; step-sister, Reba Rushing; grandchildren, Kimberly Swift,  Megan Freeman, Dylan Smith, Alex Wiley, Sabrina Widelski; and 9 great grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Alton Smith, Neal Smith; step-brother, Eugene Wallace; sister, Joyce Brock; step-sister, Marilyn Craven; and grandchild, Michael Zipse.

A funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Sunday, January 14, 2024 at Collier Funeral Home, located at 211 West 5th St., Benton, KY 42025.

Burial will follow at Calvert City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Sunday, January 14, 2024 at Collier Funeral Home.
