James "Wendell" Norwood

James "Wendell" Norwood, 92 of Benton, Kentucky Passed away on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Marshall Co. Hospital  E. R. in Benton, Kentucky.

Born Wednesday, January 31, 1934, he was the son of the late Irvan Norwood and the late Mary Walker Norwood. Wendell was a life long member of the Olive Community Church.  He retired after 40 years as an electrician for D C Electric, Inc. in Benton and was a 70 year member of the IBEW Local #816. Wendell enjoyed working his cattle and his farm, but most of all loved his family and enjoyed spending Sunday afternoon with all of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving are sons; Keith Norwood (Dee) of Benton, KY and David Norwood (Jessica) of Benton, KY; daughters, Belinda Creason (Ricky) of Hardin, KY and Carolyn Dunn of Murray, KY; grandchildren, Natalie Johnson (Grant), Carter Norwood, Evan Norwood, Owen Norwood, Natasha Henson, Trevor Norwood (Amanda), Blake Norwood (Makenzie), Chandra Clonan (Rick), Candace Miller (John), Rae Crosby (Kris), Stephen Dunn (Alex), and Kamra Davenport (Tucker); great grandchildren, Isaac and Olivia Miller, Emma Clonan, Chloe, Sophie and Ben Crosby, Seth Dunn, Axel and Ivy Davenport, Kash and Trip Henson, Gabi, Magnolia, Austin and Tinley Norwood; brother, Joe Norwood of Benton, KY and niece, Sherry Norwood of Murray, KY.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Hilda Mae Byars Norwood and  infant daughter, Pamela Norwood.

A funeral service will be Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Collier Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Rick Miller officiating.

Burial to follow in the Olive Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 11, 2026 from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM at Collier Funeral Home, located at 211 West 5th Street Benton, KY 42025. 270-527-3141.

In lieu flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Olive Cemetery Fund c/o Judy Lovett 1701 Old Olive Road Benton, KY 42025.
