John W. Sheridan

 John W. Sheridan, 82 of Calvert City, Kentucky passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at his home.

Born Sunday, November 21, 1943 in Union County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late James Sheridan and the late Alice House Sheridan. He was a member of Altona Missionary Baptist Church. John retired as a maintenance supervisor for Air Products in Calvert City. After retirement, John volunteered at the US Forestry Service in LBL. He was also known for "if it was broke, he could fix it". Before his tenure at Air Products, John proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1961 until 1981 and retired with the rank of Master Seargent.

Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Shirley Hatley Sheridan; son, Chris Sheridan (Beth) of Kuttawa, KY; daughter, Lee Alice Ellington (Shane) of Boaz, KY; brother, Jim Sheridan (Rayma) of Greenfield, IN; grandchildren, John Ellington (Amanda), William Ellington (Madison) and Jacob Mitchell (Jocelyn) and great grandchild, Aubrey Ellington.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Collier Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Roger Rice and Bro. Charles Frazier officiating.

Burial to follow with a brief graveside service with Military Rites on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Oak Grove Cemetery in Clay, KY.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 29, 2026 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Collier Funeral Home, located at 211 West 5th Street Benton, KY 42025. 270-527-3141.
